WELCOME TO THE SCHOLARSHIP OFFICE

Nearly 300 scholarships totaling about $300,000 were recently awarded to students attending El Camino College or transferring to the four-year college or university of their dreams. With many of these scholarships, students will receive financial assistance that may fully cover tuition, fees and textbooks.

In addition, the recent launch of a fund-raising drive in support of the statewide Osher Scholarship Endowment Program will provide even more funds to the neediest of El Camino College’s students.

Tip:
When applying for scholarships, watch deadlines! Each scholarship program runs on its own schedule.

Scholarships can be awarded based on:

• Academic achievement

• Financial need

• Participation in high school activities

• Community service

• Honors and organizational and campus club affiliation

Tip:
Develop a great personal statement essay – what makes you a great student? Don’t forget to have someone else review and proofread!

“The scariest part about college is paying for it, and the scholarships offered at El Camino College are a huge relief. Knowing I am able pay for college makes me feel less intimated and more motivated to keep going.”

- Ashley Dester, lifelong Torrance resident who plans a career as a high school English teacher
