New students have never attended college or have few college units and are learning how to use ECC electronic tools. Returning students separated from college but recently returned to ECC. Returning students have used electronic tools and are reviewing old e-tools and learning new ones. Continuing students have never separated from the college and feel comfortable using electronic tools to navigate the financial aid process and website.

Only students that have a high school diploma, GED or CPE may take the Math & English Placement Tests. The Financial Aid Office staff person must refer you for the ATB Test if you did not get a high school diploma or failed the CAHSEE (California High School State Exit Exam). Bring your English & Math Placement Test scores with you when you attend a Financial Aid Orientation. The academic counselor needs your test scores to do your Educational Plan.

Complete the 2008-2009 FAFSA if you are attending the Fall 2008, Spring 2009 or Summer 2009 terms. Complete the 2009-2010 FAFSA if you are attending Fall 2009, Spring 2010, or Summer 2010. A Student Aid Report (SAR) is the output document produced by FAFSA. You can review your SAR online and make corrections immediately.

Contact the Financial Aid Office at 310-660-3493 to reserve a seat for the Financial Aid Orientation. The Orientation is approximately 3 hours (1 hour of financial aid policies and procedures and two hours of academic information). The academic counselor will develop an Educational Plan for the student that attends the Orientation.

The student and parent will need a personal identification number (PIN) to electronically sign the federal financial aid application. The PIN number is a lifetime financial aid number and protects your privacy. Do not give anyone your PIN number.

You must turn in all documents at the same time for faster service or they will be returned to you. All documents are scanned and stored electronically.

MyECC requires you to log into web services using your userid and password. Refer to our Information Desk, Announcements for some userid and password information.

Please use your social security card and birth certificate to apply online. Make sure that you are enrolled in a degree program (A.A./ A.S./ Transfer or Certificate Program) with a major. Students with undeclared majors will not receive financial aid payments. You must reapply for admission if you have been out of college for at least one year.

Your financial aid checks may placed on hold if you are not meeting satisfactory academic progress standards at the end of the spring or summer semester or if you have outstanding fees.
