Supplemental Instruction Fall 2009 Schedule

SI Sessions are attended on a voluntary basis. They are specifically linked to the course sections specified above. However, students enrolled in other course sections may also attend these SI sessions. Students are not required to attend the entire session time. Session days and times are subject to change.

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a series of weekly review sessions for students enrolled in selected courses. SI has been proven to help El Camino College students raise their grades by helping them increase their understanding of course material.

Attendance at SI session is voluntary and FREE! Students develop a better understanding of course content by having the opportunity to compare notes, discuss important course concepts, take practice tests, and develop strategies for studying and learning. SI sessions are facilitated by an SI Coach. The Coach is a student who has successfully passed the course.

What are ECC students saying about SI?

  • "The SI sessions helped me to understand the class material much better, which showed on my performance on exams. I think anyone who has not taken advantage of SI sessions is missing out on a great opportunity."
  • "SI gave me the opportunity to review the main points without any confusion. It definitely helped me to get a higher grade than I was expecting."
  • "The SI program helped me immensely. I achieved more than I imagined. It helped to hear lectures in class, take notes, and then go to SI sessions. Then when I studied on my own, it was a lot easier to understand the class material. I did well in class because of the SI sessions."
  • "My GPA has always averaged well above a 3.0. I took advantage of SI and raised it even higher!"
