El Camino Community College has a wonderful Study Abroad program. For the past 15 years thousands of El Camino College students have traveled all over the world while earning college credits.
Why study abroad with El Camino College? The reasons are innumerable. The practical reasons include that increased globalization has placed new demands on students. Today, it is critical for students to understand the interconnection of world affairs. Educational institutions must prepare today's students to excel in a world made smaller by rapid communication, shared commerce and the facility of travel from one place to another. A study abroad with El Camino College serves to expand the student's awareness of the world, other cultures and ways of being, through the greatest teacher of all, personal experience. Personal reasons to become a study abroad participant include, having the time of your life! Every program participant has a life changing experience, many meet friends they will cherish for the rest of their lives. Still others make career choices based on their expanded life vision. Most come away with a greater understanding of themselves, human nature and a greater appreciation for history, ancient cultures and our country, The United States of America.
In the past El Camino College Instructors have taken students to Italy, England, Ireland, Spain, Costa Rica, France, New Zealand, Austria, Greece, Hungary, China, Guadalajara, and Australia. In addition to the countries we have already visited proposed future sites include, Africa, Turkey, Mexico, Hawaii, Egypt, and Japan to name a few.
