El Camino College Dance Performances Planned for Fall

El Camino College’s student dance ensembles will present several performances this fall, showcasing a variety of themes and dance styles. 

The annual “Fall Advanced Dance Concert” series highlights the work of El Camino College's dance students, with shows at 1 p.m. Nov. 21; 8 p.m. Nov. 22-23; and 3 p.m. Nov. 24 in the Campus Theatre. This dance concert features the work of guest choreographer Edwin Siguenza; El Camino College dance faculty members Liz Hoefner Adamis, Jonathan Bryant, Daniel Berney, Kanisha Bennett, and Valerie Cabag; and original works from current ECC choreography students. All guest, faculty and student works feature current dancers participating in the college’s dance program. Many genres of dance will be represented, including ballet, modern, contemporary, world, jazz and hip-hop. The show is directed by Liz Hoefner Adamis and Jonathan Bryant. Tickets are $10-$15 and may be purchased at www.centerforthearts.org using the online ticketing system or by phone at 800-832-ARTS. The work of beginning and intermediate choreography students will be featured in the ECC Dance Department’s annual “Choreography Showcase” set for 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 5 in the Campus Theatre. Dancers from the choreography classes and Dance Workshop Ensemble will perform ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz and hip-hop original choreography. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at www.centerforthearts.org using the online ticketing system or by phone at 800-832-ARTS. The fall semester’s final ECC Dance Department performance is the annual “Lo Tech, No Tech” concert, set for 7 p.m. Dec. 9 in Marsee Auditorium. Hosted by professor Daniel Berney, this presentation features the final showings from all fall dance classes at El Camino College. Choreography is created by instructors, and students in each class perform the final dances. Technical aspects are minimized to showcase dance genres, including ballet, modern, jazz, African, tap, ballroom, Latin social dance, and hip-hop. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at www.centerforthearts.org using the online ticketing system or by phone at 800-832-ARTS.
