El Camino College Studio Jazz Band to Present Spring Concert

Fans of swing, jazz and great big-band music will enjoy the spring concert of the El Camino College Studio Jazz Band, set for 8 p.m. May 21 in Haag Recital Hall.

This dynamic ensemble features a mix of aspiring young students and seasoned veterans who come together to present a blend of beautiful subtle moods, creative solos and exciting ensemble passages in a performance directed by David Sills. 

A South Bay native, Sills has released 10 critically acclaimed albums and can also be heard as a sideman on many recordings, including ECC alumnus David Benoit’s album “Conversation,” as a featured soloist. He has a bachelor’s degree in saxophone performance from California State University, Long Beach and a master’s degree in jazz studies from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.

Tickets for the performance are $10 and may be purchased online at www.centerforthearts.org using the online ticketing system or by phone at 800-832-ARTS. The Ticket Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Campus parking is $3. Haag Recital Hall is located at 16007 Crenshaw Boulevard, Torrance.
