El Camino College Theatre Department to Present “The Who’s Tommy”

El Camino College’s Theatre Department will bring the exhilarating musical “The Who’s Tommy” to life in the Campus Theatre this spring.

Based on “Tommy,” the Who’s iconic 1969 rock concept album, the musical tells the story of a young boy who triumphs over adversity. After witnessing a violent event as a child, a traumatized Tommy retreats into himself, and becomes deaf, mute and blind. He soon discovers an uncanny talent for the game of pinball, which saves his life. He rises to international superstardom and inspires people all over the world.

This five-time Tony Award-winning show features music and lyrics by Pete Townshend. The musical’s exhilarating story of healing and overcoming obstacles has cross-generational appeal for audiences of all ages.

Performances are set for 8 p.m. March 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, and 28; 3 p.m. March 15, 22 and 29.

The El Camino College Theatre Department production is led by director Bill Georges, choreographer Liz Hoefner Adamis and musical director Anthony Moreno.
