El Camino College to Present Annual Summer Kid’s College

Registration is now open for the El Camino College Community Education department’s annual summer Kid’s College program for children entering grades one through 12. All classes will be available via virtual live remote online platforms.

The six-week program consists of one-week or two-week Monday through Friday sessions from July 6 through August 14, 2020. Kid’s College not-for-credit workshops, camps, and classes are designed for serious summer fun with an emphasis on inspiring a sense of wonder and imagination for learning.

Parents may choose to enroll their child in a morning and/or afternoon course. All classes will be conducted live, via remote online platforms. For grades one-five, courses include coding, “Film School—Moviemaking,” “Inventor’s League,” piano, math, cartooning and drawing, STEM with LEGO, “Code Breakers,” “Pokémon Masters: Designers & 3D Makers Unite!,” “See it, Say it,
Read it—Reading Foundations Workshop,” musical theater, chess, writing, “JavaScript Programming,” Minecraft, ukulele, “YouTube Content Creators,” and robotics.

Students in sixth-eighth grades can enroll in “Stop Motion Animation,” “Python Programming,” “Minecraft Designers,” “Code Your Own Adventure!,” chess, “Rocket Kart Racers: Design a Mario Kart Style Game,” “Roblox Coders,” “3D Game Design with Unity,” drawing and illustration, “Minecraft Animators,” “Pokémon Masters,” “Video Game Animation,” computer coding and graphic design, “Battle Royale: Make your First Fortnite Style Video Game,” and “YouTube Content Creators.”

Courses for high school students in grades nine-12 include “Conquering High School Grammar,” “Geometry Critical Concepts,” “Math Tutoring: Algebra, Geometry, or Trigonometry,” “Algebra 1 Critical Concepts,” “Writing the High School Essay,” “Writing Skills Development for High School Composition,” and “Algebra 2 Critical Concepts.”

All children in grades one-12 are invited to enroll. Average course fees for a two-week/half-day session are $199 and a one-week/half-day session is $169. Registration is required. Parents are encouraged to enroll as soon as possible because courses sell out quickly due to small class sizes.
