El Camino College to Present “Green Day’s American Idiot”
The band that spoke to a generation of youth gets the Broadway treatment in “Green Day’s American Idiot” this month at El Camino College’s Campus Theatre.
The hit musical, based on Green Day’s Grammy Award-winning multiplatinum album, tells the story of three lifelong friends forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia. The musical won two Tony Awards and features hits such as “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “21 Guns,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” and the title track, “American Idiot,” all backed by a live punk rock band.
Performances are set for 8 p.m. March 16, 17, 23, 24, 30 and 31; 1 p.m. March 22; and 3 p.m. March 18 and 25.
The ECC Theatre Department production is led by director Bill Georges, music director Greg Mullen, vocal director Anthony Moreno and choreographer Liz Hoefner Adamis.
Tickets for the performance range from $18-$25 and may be purchased online at www.centerforthearts.org using the online ticketing system or by phone at 800-832-ARTS. The Ticket Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Campus parking is $3. The Campus Theatre is located at 16007 Crenshaw Boulevard, Torrance.
