Grammy Award-Winning Parker Quartet to Perform at El Camino College
Group will present an evening of instrumental chamber music
The Grammy Award-winning Parker Quartet will present an evening of chamber music at 8 p.m. Jan. 17 in the Campus Theatre. The performance will include works such as Mendelssohn's Quartet in E minor, Op. 44, No. 2 and Beethoven's String Quartet in B flat major, Op. 130 with Grosse Fuge, Op. 133.
The group spent the past year crisscrossing North America with performances in the Bowdoin International Music Festival in Maine, the Strings Music Festival in Colorado and the Garth Newel Music Center in Virginia. Founded in 2002, the Parker Quartet won a Grammy Award in 2011 for Best Chamber Music Performance for its recording of György Ligeti’s complete works for string quartet.
The Parker Quartet includes Daniel Chong, violin; Ken Hamao, violin; Jessica Bodner, viola; and
Kee-Hyun Kim, cello. The Denver Post wrote, “Their polished presence and fresh approach make them a formidable force," while the Boston Globe praised the group for its "fiercely committed performances."

The Ticket Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Campus parking is $3. The Campus Theatre is located at 16007 Crenshaw Boulevard, Torrance.
