The Writing Center
The Writing Center Goes Online
The Writing Center offers every El Camino College student one-on-one assistance with writing a college essay. With the COVID-19 pandemic still underway, the Writing Center is offering its services in an online setting. Whether through live one- on-one Zoom tutoring or through essay review by email, the Writing Center is here to help you with any writing assignment for any El Camino class.
As always, tutors will focus on the larger issues such as development, structure, and use of research rather than simple line-by-line proofreading. We can also review scholarship or application essays and even resumes or cover letters.
Online Hours of Operation: Zoom Tutoring and Email Submissions

|Monday||10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
|Tuesday||10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.|
|Wednesday||10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.|

To request a Zoom conference, simply join the Writing Center lobby by going to https://cccconfer.zoom.us/my/eccwriting or by using the meeting ID 297-132-6656.
All you need is your student ID number, writing prompt or directions from your professor, and any drafts, partial or complete, that you want to share. If you don’t have a draft, tutors can help answer questions you have and assist you in planning your essay.
The Writing Center will continue to respond to essays by email as well. You can email firstname.lastname@example.org and a tutor will review your essay and email comments back. Expect a response within one working day, Monday through Friday. Again, you should provide your student ID number, name, and the professor’s directions. You can send documents for review as attachments or share links to your work with permission for anyone to comment.
