Meet Lynn Solomita

Hired: January 1986 and February 2010


Hobbies: Volunteering for reading and mentoring programs at San Pedro’s Barton Hill Elementary School; her love of reading extends to her active participation in a book club.

 

Little Known Fact: Lynn is actively involved in a local feral cat trap, neuter and release program. A true friend of cats, she frequently finds herself with additional cats, who make themselves at home with her three-legged dog named Indiana.

 

Lynn Solomita recently joined the El Camino College community again – when she came on board as the interim vice president, human resources in February. Ms. Solomita returns to the ECC human resources department, where she was director of personnel services from 1986-1994.

 

“There are a lot of people who were here when I left in 1994, and it has been a lot of fun seeing them again and finding out what is new with them and their families,” she said. “It’s nice to be back.”

 

As a human resources consultant, Ms. Solomita has a wide range of experience in her field; she has worked in human resources at the Los Angeles Air Force Base and served as vice president, human resources at Santa Monica College – where she retired twice! Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from UCLA and a law degree from the University of West Los Angeles, School of Law.

 

Ms. Solomita is busy both in her professional life and in the community, but her favorite activity is spending time with her granddaughters, ages 2 and 4, who live nearby.

 

“I am definitely enjoying my time back at El Camino College, but nothing is as fun as playing with my two granddaughters!” she said.
