Erika Gavitt
Erika Gavitt graduated from El Camino College in 2012, and then transferred to the University of California at Berkeley as an English major. She said that she is thankful that she was able to attend El Camino College and credits her professors and others for helping her find her way to UC Berkeley.
“My experience in high school caused me to doubt my ability to excel academically,” she added. “When I enrolled at El Camino College, I decided to set an academic goal to attend UC Berkeley. I purposely set the bar high, expecting myself to fall somewhat short of it. And who knows? Without the incredible amount of support I received from the professors at El Camino College, I might have missed the mark and lost sight of my goal. I was introduced to a community, grounded in support, of teachers who genuinely wanted me to succeed. I am proud to be a transfer student. I certainly would not be the person I am today had I decided not to attend El Camino College.”
