Safety Matters

Take Heart! CPR/AED Training Available

A CPR/AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) training session is scheduled for April 20 in the Alondra Room for first-time attendees, as well as anyone who needs recertification. AED devices are strategically placed throughout campus and are ready to help save lives. Please note: employees who are assigned the responsibility of performing daily checks on an AED unit should register and attend this very important class. According to both the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross, only those certified should check and use AED equipment. Sudden cardiac arrest claims the lives of nearly 450,000 Americans each year. Immediate defibrillation and medical attention is key in these patients' survival rate. Thank you to everyone who attends these valuable life-saving CPR/AED training courses.

The registration deadline is April 10. To register, view: elcamino.flexreporter.com/app/login.php. For questions or more information, please contact Valerie Wagner at [email protected].

Phone Updates

All classroom phones have been installed. The El Camino Police Department has verified that all 911 calls from campus phones connect directly to ECC police. All phones also have a speaker for broadcasting safety announcements.

Door Locks Contract Awarded

The Board of Trustees recently approved a contract to have Minco Construction install door locks in classrooms across campus. These locks will allow for the securing of classroom doors from within the classroom and are part of the overall plan for increasing campus safety. Lock installation is scheduled to be completed mainly during evenings and weekends. Substantial completion of this project is scheduled for the end of October.
