The Great California ShakeOut

Get ready to ShakeOut and learn how to be earthquake safe! On October 17, El Camino College and El Camino College Compton Center will participate in the Great California ShakeOut, along with millions of other colleges, businesses, cities, firefighters, police and individuals who have registered for the event.

At 10:17 a.m. all El Camino College students, faculty and staff will “Drop, Cover, and Hold On,” and then participate in an orderly evacuation of buildings. This ShakeOut drill is a great opportunity to practice safety procedures in case of an earthquake.

When the alert sounds:

• DROP to the ground
• Take COVER by getting under a sturdy desk
or table
• HOLD ON to the table until the shaking stops

When notice is given, everyone should evacuate and meet in the primary assembly areas. Please stay in the designated area until the building captain announces that it is safe to return to the building. Be prepared! For more earthquake safety information, click here.
