Union Finalist for National Award
Congrats to El Camino College's student newspaper, which was recently named one of three finalists in the national College Media Association competition for two-year college newspaper of the year. The Union is also a finalist for Pinnacle Awards in CMA's Best of Collegiate Design categories for opinion page and editorial cartoon in competition with both two- and four-year colleges.
Winners will be announced at the Associated Collegiate Press/College Media Association Fall National College Media Convention in Louisville, Ky., in late October.
"These are major awards in college journalism and being singled out by the judges like this continues the recognition of the excellence of student journalism at El Camino College across many decades," adviser Stefanie Frith said. "We are very proud of the students who work so hard to bring the college community an outstanding publication."
The Union's finalist for opinion page, designed by Faith Petrie, can be viewed at https://tinyurl.com/y75jjgkl, while the editorial cartoon on affordable housing created by Jose Tobar can be seen at https://tinyurl.com/y8c2lrjz.
The Union and Warrior Life magazine are produced entirely by students enrolled in journalism classes. The newspaper and the spring magazine are available on racks and at other distribution points throughout the ECC campus.
