Science Club Field Trip: Sequoia National Park

Science Club

The ECC Science Club's field trip to Sequoia National Park brought 25 students into nature to study geology, ecology and botany up close. Students camped, cooked out and hiked through Sequoia groves, where they learned about fire ecology and how the massive trees need fire to reproduce. Students also hiked through spring meadows, where they saw fruiting mushrooms and wildflowers in bloom. They also visited Tokopah Falls and Crystal Cave. Faculty members Karla Villatoro and Sue Bickford accompanied the students, many whom had never been to Sequoia National Park or experienced camping.
