New Confirmed Case of COVID-19 Reported on Campus
El Camino College received a confirmed report on July 12, 2021, that an employee of one of our vendors has tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus. To protect patient privacy, the individual’s information is considered confidential and will not be disclosed.
This individual tested positive on July 12th, and was last on campus on July 12th. This individual has identified close contacts while on campus, who have been notified, and those individuals are required to observe the minimum 10-day isolation at home. The individual was in one of the elevators in the Library. The elevators and the immediate areas around the elevators in the Library has been cleaned and disinfected as required. It is important to know that transmission more commonly occurs via sustained face-to-face contact and through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Surface transmission is less common.
The entire El Camino College community sends this individual sincere wishes for a quick recovery. As always, all El Camino College students and employees are asked to follow the directions given by public health and elected officials during this outbreak. This includes obeying the Health Officer’s most recent orders from Los Angeles County and the State of California.
