El Camino College recently submitted a Comprehensive Institutional Self-Evaluation Report to the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) for its Compton Center.
A significant step in the process for El Camino College Compton Center to become an accredited college, this initial Self-Evaluation follows a timeline developed by the ACCJC. ECC Compton Center was granted accreditation eligibility status by the ACCJC in March 2015. A visit from the ACCJC comprehensive evaluation team is scheduled for March 6-9, 2017.
The ACCJC will consider the Self-Evaluation Report and Application for Accreditation Candidacy at its June 2017 meeting. Based on the process established by the ACCJC, once candidacy is granted, the Compton Center must remain in compliance with the Standards of Accreditation during a two-year candidacy period. The next step after being granted candidacy is to apply for initial accreditation.
Both the El Camino Community College District and the Compton Community College District are fully committed to obtaining independent accreditation for ECC Compton Center in accordance with the goals set forth in AB 318 and the Partnership Agreement.
When the partnership began in 2006, the primary objective was to provide quality educational programs and services for student success – this objective continues to be accomplished through many new and expanded student programs.
The Self-Evaluation highlights many achievements at ECC Compton Center during the past 10 years, including new facilities, technology upgrades, and innovative programs. To read the full document, view: www.compton.edu/campusinformation/accreditation/2017-report/.
