Strong Workforce Program

El Camino College is part of the Strong Workforce Program, a California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office initiative designed to improve the quantity and quality of Career and Technical Education programs that lead to employment opportunities and/or wage increases for students. The 2016-17 state budget includes $200 million for the Strong Workforce Program. El Camino College will receive more than $1.5 million. Program goals include strengthening CTE offerings as well as improved CTE outcomes in academic and labor market success. The program will also work to close equity gaps in program access, completion, and earnings of underserved demographic groups.

El Camino College programs that will receive Strong Workforce Development funds include: automotive, construction technology, cyber security, film video, manufacturing/machine tool tech, nursing, public safety, radiologic technology, respiratory technology, and welding.

Grant funding requires demonstrated progress in increased enrollment, completion and transfer rates, employment, and the proportion of students who attain a living wage.
