Nominations Open: Distinguished Women 2020

The El Camino College Women's History Month Committee is seeking candidates for the 2020 Distinguished Women's Wall of Fame. The annual Women of Distinction Award recognizes outstanding women from the El Camino College area, selected by the committee each year in March, which is designated Women's History Month. Award nominations may be made by friends, family, and colleagues; individuals may also nominate themselves. Nominees will be judged for their contributions to women and girls' causes and to community service that aligns with this year's National Women's History Month theme, "Valiant Women of the Vote." The theme celebrates the women who fought for a woman's right to vote in the United States and recognizes the centennial of the 19th Amendment.

Those nominated must live or work in the communities within the El Camino Community College District: El Segundo, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lennox, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach and Torrance. The nomination deadline is Feb. 26. The leaders will be honored at the Women's History Month Luncheon set for March 18. Honorees will also be featured on the El Camino College Distinguished Women's Wall of Fame throughout the year, and their names will be engraved on a plaque that remains on the wall permanently. To nominate a candidate or to see a list of previous honorees, please view: http://www.elcamino.edu/events/whm.aspx or call 310-660-3868.
