

El Camino College Board of Trustees President Kenneth Brown was recently named a 2017 Modern-Day Technology Leader. He was honored at the 31st Annual Black Engineer of the Year Awards STEM Conference.
Brown was honored for his achievements in engineering, science and technology during 2016. He is an Inglewood resident who has served on the El Camino College Board of Trustees since 2010. A senior systems engineer for Northrop Grumman, Brown works as a system capability lead for GPS System Engineering and Integration. He has also been an adjunct professor of physics at California State University, Dominguez Hills for the past eight years.
After earning a bachelor's degree in computer science and physics from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Brown completed a master's degree in applied physics from Clark Atlanta University. He is a member of the California Community College Trustees board, and serves on advisory boards at California State University, Long Beach; California State University, Los Angeles; Santa Monica College; Los Angeles City College; and Inglewood Adult School.
Brown previously worked with the California Department of Education as a Content Review Panel expert during California's State Board Science Primary Adoption. He was also approved by the California State Board of Education to serve as a member the Curriculum Framework and Evaluation Criteria Committee for the update of the Science Framework for California Public Schools.
