A festive, well-attended ribbon-cutting event on Feb. 21 celebrated the grand opening of the college's new gymnasium. Participants toured the new facility, joined a free-throw challenge and volleyball competition, and learned about the features of the brand-new $35 million, 55,820-square-foot gym. Attendees included California State Senator Steven Bradford, Manhattan Beach Mayor Nancy Hersman, Gardena Mayor Tasha Cerda, Torrance Councilmember Geoff Rizzo, Lomita Councilmember Mark Waronek, El Camino College Foundation Board President and former El Segundo councilmember Don Brann, Olina Wibroe from Senator Ben Allen's office, Cody Bridges of Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi's office, and Jennifer LaMarque of Supervisor Janice Hahn's office.

The new Gymnasium houses instructional and athletic competition areas for basketball, volleyball, and badminton. The modern multipurpose fitness facility also features team locker rooms, faculty offices and other essential support spaces. Thanks again to our community for supporting this project, which was funded by voter-approved 2002 and 2012 Measure E facilities bonds.
