El Camino College has scheduled a variety of events throughout March in celebration of Women’s History Month. This year's national theme, "Honoring Trailblazing Women in Labor and Business," presents the opportunity to highlight women who have been successful in business and the labor force.
The celebration began with a Women’s Wellness Resource Fair and a film and discussion of "The Triangle Factory Fire" presented by sociology faculty members Sue Dowden and Stacey Allen.
The Women's History Month Luncheon on March 23 will feature 2017 Women of Distinction Award honorees. This award celebrates outstanding women from the El Camino College area, honoring them for their contributions to the community. The luncheon is scheduled for noon-2 p.m. in the East Dining Room. Tickets are $20 each.
The festivities conclude with a Fashion and Cosmetology Showcase presented by Professor Priscilla "Priscy" Ratcliff from noon-3 p.m. March 25 in the ITEC, first floor.
Women's History Month activities are sponsored by the El Camino College Office of Professional Development & Learning, Staff and Student Diversity, and The Women's History Month Committee. For more information, view: www.elcamino.edu/events/whm.asp or call 310-660-3868.
