Warrior Smart Start
New students, parents, adult learners, and community members are invited to attend a special "Warrior Smart Start" event on Saturday, April 21. This enrollment event runs from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. in the East Dining Room and will bring several El Camino College services together so that students can complete the steps to enrollment and qualify for priority registration by the April 30 deadline – in just one visit to campus.
Visitors will be able to complete an ECC application, learn about concurrent enrollment, transfer options, and CTE programs. New students may also complete an educational plan if they bring placement test scores. In addition, the first 120 students who need to take a placement test will be able to do so during the Warrior Smart Start event – just be sure to bring ECC ID number and a picture ID. Students who have already completed orientation, assessment, and educational planning are encouraged to attend and receive information about financial aid, scholarships, athletics, career and technical education programs, and transfer opportunities will also be available. To RSVP or for more information, view the Warrior Smart Start webpage: http://www.elcamino.edu/admissions/outreach/events.aspx.
Guided Pathways Plan
The Guided Pathways for Students (GPS) Committee has prepared a comprehensive plan to submit to the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office this month. As an outline of status in ECC's efforts to align all college initiatives, the plan also covers future options that will help us create a clear path for students that prepares them for success. The document includes a work plan, timeline, budget allocations, and key performance indicators. College constituent groups such as the Academic Senate, College Council, and the Planning and Budget Committee have reviewed the plan and offered feedback. The GPS committee has already sponsored campus outreach programs, including the recent Guided Pathways Summit where about 125 faculty and staff members had an opportunity to learn more about the framework and how we can better serve students. The plan is available for review: https://www.boarddocs.com/ca/ecccd/Board.nsf/vpublic?open.
