MESA Students to Participate in Leadership Retreat

Seven El Camino College MESA students will participate in the MESA Leadership Retreat set for April 6-8 at the Happy Valley Conference Center in Santa Cruz. The event will bring together 140 students from 25 MESA programs across the state for an opportunity to network and collaborate on various projects. Students will participate in renewable energy, nature history, evolution, Arduino-based programming, and leadership workshops. Additional field study projects include chemistry, engineering design, a STEM-athon, and stargazing.

ECC students will also have the opportunity to attend the University of California, Santa Cruz's Transfer Day to learn about STEM opportunities and resources, participate in STEM lab tours, join an admissions presentation, and receive transfer advising. Participating students include: Shaelly Flores, Denise Gonzalez, Jose Gonzalez, Ezekiel Hernandez, Jonathan Herrera, Jessica Ramirez and Jovanie Sandoval. Arturo Hernandez, director of El Camino College's MESA|STEM programs will also attend, along with Lorena Fonseca, program specialist of Compton College's MESA Center.
