KnowBe4 Software Rollout
The ECC ITS Cybersecurity Office recently introduced a new user-training anti-phishing software program called KnowBe4. This software aims to reduce successful phishing attacks by testing user responses to fake emails embedded with fake malware or suspicious links. KnowBe4 tracks how test emails are handled, logging if you click on an embedded link or respond with personally identifiable information (PII). All responses are confidential. If you open a fake email, the software will direct you to information and training pages to help you recognize spam and phishing attempts. The office will periodically notify the campus of additional information and training modules available to keep you aware of fresh attacks and threats that are continuously being released upon the public.
A new Phish Alert icon is also available on the Outlook home tab. Please use this icon to report emails you think are suspicious, spam or phishing attempts. The suspicious emails will be routed to [email protected] for processing. If you don't see the icon, close and reopen Outlook; it is not available for Outlook 365. Questions about the Phish Alert icon or the KnowBe4 program can be directed to Paul Yoder in the Cybersecurity Office: [email protected].
