Enrollment Management Plan Update

South Bay Promise Continues to Expand
In an effort to make a college education accessible and affordable, the El Camino College South Bay Promise program continues to expand, providing academic opportunities to many more students. El Camino College launched the South Bay Promise pilot program in 2014, partnering with Inglewood Unified and Centinela Valley Union High school districts. This fall, the Torrance Unified School District will join the program as well. Plans are in place to expand even further in the future.

Through the South Bay Promise, high school graduates who attend ECC full-time after graduation will have enrollment fees waived for the first year. In fall 2018, enrollment fees for South Bay Promise participants will be paid for up to 500 public high school graduates in the El Camino Community College District.

Students can choose from two educational pathways: transfer to a four-year college or university, or pursue career technical education. South Bay Promise students are linked in a cohort so they have an immediate sense of community on campus, in addition to access to counselors for additional support. Internships with area businesses for South Bay Promise students are provided by the South Bay Workforce Investment Board, a key partner in the program.
