Help Students Succeed!

Watch for bright blue "Ask Me" buttons on the lapels of faculty, staff and managers across campus during the first two weeks of the fall semester. This program was revived in an effort to welcome students to ECC and help them transition into college life. Research clearly shows that students are more likely to succeed when they feel like they matter and the first two weeks of classes are critical, noted professor Kristie Daniel-DiGregorio, who helped initiate the project, which the Senate is sponsoring in collaboration with Outreach and School Relations. Last week, more than 800 "Ask Me" buttons were delivered to campus offices. Employees are encouraged to wear the magnetized buttons – and don't worry, you don't have to have all of the answers to participate. Students can be directed to the Welcome Week tents located at the Library Lawn, Bookstore, Planetarium and Marsee Auditorium for more information. Most students simply need directions or help finding someone who has the info they need. The on-the-spot information lets students know we're invested in their success and helps them overcome the challenges of transitioning to a new learning environment. Thank you to everyone participating!

If your area needs more buttons, please contact the office of Outreach & School Relations at ext. 3487 or stop by Student Services Center Room 206.
