Chris Dela Cruz Completes Advisers Training

Student Services Specialist Chris Dela Cruz recently completed the American Student Association of Community Colleges (ASACC) Certified Advisors Training program. The three-day ASACC program was conducted in collaboration with the California Community College Student Affairs Association (CCCSAA) to provide in-depth information critical to those advising student leadership groups. Topics included conflict resolution, managing liability, and building strong teams. Dela Cruz, who works in the Student Development Office, achieved Advisor I Certification.

Since joining the El Camino College staff in 2016, Dela Cruz has worked with a variety of projects such as the Warrior Pantry, equity and diversity student clubs, and the Student Empowerment Dialogue Series for both students and faculty through his involvement as an adviser with the Student Equity Advisory Council. He is also co-adviser to the Associated Student Organization and Inter-Club Council (ICC). Dela Cruz earned a master's degree in postsecondary educational leadership from San Diego State University and a bachelor's degree from UC San Diego. Before his position at ECC, he worked as an academic adviser in the College of Health and Human Services at California State University, Long Beach.
