Comprehensive Master Plan Update
ECC to Finalize Major Strategic Planning Document

El Camino College is in the process of finalizing its Educational Master Plan (EMP) for 2017-2022. The EMP will inform supporting plans such as facilities, staffing, and technology to form a Comprehensive Master Plan that will begin to be implemented for the next planning and budgeting cycle. The EMP will also integrate with other campus plans, such as the Student Equity Plan, to ensure that the college is working toward common goals.
Following a two-year process of consultative development and refinement, the college is in the final stages of establishing its next long-range plan for its academic and service areas. The five-year Educational Master Plan is a strategic roadmap that guides the decisions and directions of the college in the coming years. Clear priorities and actions are set in accord with the College Mission and Strategic Initiatives.
The proposed Educational Master Plan contains a series of broad initiatives and specific goals that the college will endeavor to achieve within five to seven years. These initiatives include topics such as: Building Community, Curricular Innovations, Empowering for Equity, Funding Technology, Comprehensive Student Support, Technology for Communication, Improving our Processes, and Lowering the Cost of Education.
A collegial consultation process will begin shortly, with the Educational Master Plan to be reviewed by all constituent groups at the college. In addition, an Open Forum is scheduled for 1-1:50 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 in the Board Room to provide more information about the EMP and receive feedback. Everyone is invited to attend; registration is not required. The EMP will also be reviewed at standing meetings of the Academic Senate, Associated Student Organization, and Planning & Budgeting Committee. The Educational Master Plan draft is available online: www.elcamino.edu/administration/ir/docs/planning/EducationalMasterPlan_InitiativesAndGoals_withNarratives_DRAFT_September2016.pdf. Feedback is welcomed via the consultation process.
