PRIDE Leadership Welcomes Second Cohort
Student Success

The El Camino College PRIDE Leadership Program recently convened the initial meeting of its second cohort, with 21 participants working together to strengthen their ability to be innovative and creative leaders. PRIDE provides "big picture" perspectives and the knowledge that empowers people to lead and shape the district and the community college system.

The group's first meeting was Sept. 15, with three additional sessions planned for the fall 2017 semester. The PRIDE team became acquainted at the first meeting and listened to human resource and organizational development professional Mitch Rosenberg's presentation "Partnership Forward," which covered collaborative leadership in the workplace. Team members learned how to identify and use their strengths when relating to others, as well as best practices for communicating with co-workers and staff.

The ECC PRIDE Leadership Program is named after the college's Statement of Values (People, Respect, Integrity, Diversity, Excellence) and includes participation from faculty, staff and managers across the college community. The program launched in spring 2017 and uses sound practices and theory-based approaches in developing effective leaders. PRIDE activities are supported through funding from the California Community Colleges via the Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative.
