ECC Joins Strong Workforce Program

El Camino College is part of the Strong Workforce Program, a Chancellor's Office initiative designed to improve the quantity and quality of Career and Technical Education programs that lead to employment opportunities and/or wage increases for students. The 2016-17 state budget includes $200 million for this initiative. Of this amount, El Camino College will receive approximately $1.5 million, and ECC Compton Center will receive more than $700,000. Program goals include strengthening CTE offerings as well as improved CTE outcomes in academic and labor market success. The program will also work to close equity gaps in program access, completion, and earnings of underserved demographic groups. Each district must now prepare a funding plan, including labor market data that identifies areas of high demand and regional economic growth. At El Camino College, a committee has been established to develop the plan, which is due in January. Read more about the Strong Workforce Program here.
