The state of El Camino College is strong. That was the message heard by more than 140 business partners, community members and elected officials during the inaugural State of the College luncheon on November 9. This special event was designed to highlight how ECC meets the needs of evolving industries and prepares the workforce of tomorrow. Superintendent/President Dena P. Maloney showcased unique partnerships and innovative programs that underscore the college's vital role in developing talented leaders. She told the attendees: "I'm confident you'll find that our message to students is equally true for you: El Camino College is where you belong and where you succeed." This message was driven home by ECC alumna Teresa Nieves Montebello who also addressed the group, sharing her transformative experience as a first-generation student. Attendees also included ECC Trustee-Elect Nilo Michelin and Senator Steven Bradford, as well as guest speakers Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi and Don McKinzie of Northrop Grumman. Guests also viewed the "We Are El Camino" video and received the college's first Annual Report.
