CommUnity Walk Brings College Together

Dr. Alison Rose Jefferson, author of "Living the California Dream: African American Leisure Sites during the Jim Crow Era," will speak about the proposed Gordon Manor residential project, once slated for the land now occupied by El Camino College.

El Camino College recently announced a return to an in-person graduation ceremony and the commencement speaker for 2022. This year we are pleased to welcome alumna and accomplished news writer, editor, and manager Deyja Charles, who will address the Class of 2022 at the 75th Annual Commencement Ceremony scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday, June 10 in Murdock Stadium.

El Camino College will return to an in-person commencement ceremony this year, set for 4 p.m. Friday, June 10 in Murdock Stadium. Everyone is invited to celebrate our Warriors at the 75th El Camino College Commencement Ceremony.

El Camino students are invited to attend the Fourth Annual California Community College LGBTQ+ Summit, an online event scheduled for May 4-5. This summit is a space for students, faculty, classified professionals, and administrators to collaborate with members of the California Community Colleges campuses at all levels and learn about innovative and successful ideas that allow campuses to better serve and affirm LGBTQ+ students.

The annual Student/Alumni Photography Exhibition runs through April 29 in the Library Lobby. The exhibit is titled "Light," and highlights a wide variety of work in film and digital images, ranging from beginning through advanced levels.

El Camino College's Center for the Arts will present a variety of events this spring, including a production of "Everybody," by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. This play is a modern retelling of the 15th century morality play, "Everyman," and is an immersive, metaphysical experiment about the journey to death.

The spring 2022 semester is now underway with both in-person and online classes, along with safety measures such as a vaccine mandate and required COVID-19 protocols that include face mask wearing and COVID-19 screening upon campus entry.

The Sixth Annual Tenure Reception and Back-To-Campus Lunch recently returned to campus. Following Spring Professional Development Day, employees met on the Library Lawn to reconnect over lunch and celebrate the accomplishments of our newly tenured faculty members.

All are invited to join El Camino’s upcoming CommUnity Walk on the college campus. Scheduled for 9 a.m. March 26, the event is designed to create awareness against anti-Asian hate speech and crimes in several communities throughout the South Bay.
