El Camino College's Center for the Arts will present a variety of events this spring, including a production of "Everybody," by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. This play is a modern retelling of the 15th century morality play, "Everyman," and is an immersive, metaphysical experiment about the journey to death. In an interesting casting twist, each performance features actors in different roles, chosen by lottery. At least three cast members know all the lines in the play and will perform a new role each time. Immersive theater techniques, dance, voiceovers, and voiceover scenes done in complete darkness are also part of the show. "Everybody" opens May 13 and performances run on select dates through May 21 in the Campus Theatre. COVID-19 safety protocols are in place.
