El Camino faculty, staff and administrators joined community members from across the South Bay last month to raise awareness about incidents of racism and hate crimes against members of the Asian American Pacific Island community in the South Bay. The one-mile walk around campus was designed to show public support for diversity, tolerance, and human dignity and is one many diversity events planned in advance of a new Student Social Justice Center opening this fall. A free self-defense class for senior citizens was offered after the walk.
