The El Camino College Academic Senate recently named Sarah Leinen as a two-time recipient of the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award. Congratulations to this 2017 and 2021 award winner and dedicated educator who has served as the Reading Success Center coordinator and as an instructor of English, academic strategies, and human development classes. She is also co-coordinator of Pride Week, adviser to the Gender Sexuality Alliance student club, and founder of the ECC Queer is Love Scholarship. Sarah is characterized as the epitome of "going above and beyond," someone who teaches with joy and curiosity and is a fierce LGBTQIA+ advocate. Sarah's demonstrated excellence in teaching, commitment to student learning, and dedication to the El Camino mission was recognized at a special ceremony during the Dec. 7 Academic Senate meeting.
