El Camino College’s Theatre Department will present “Spring Awakening” live and in person in the Campus Theatre this spring. Based on the 1891 play by Frank Wedekind, “Spring Awakening” is a Tony Award-winning rock musical set in 19th century Germany that follows repressed and struggling teenagers who are discovering their sexuality in a society that believes ignorance is bliss. This musical challenges our perceptions of art and asks us to reflect on how to do right by children and future generations of young people. The El Camino College Theatre Department production is led by director Daniel Nakawatase, choreographer Liz Hoefner Adamis and musical director Anthony Moreno. Seating is limited and COVID-19 safety protocols are in place. Performances run on select dates from March 11-27; find more information about showtimes and tickets online.
