Students debuted their original designs on the runway at the 2024 Student Fashion Show, “Reflections.” Organized and coordinated by students in the college’s “Fashion Show Production and Promotions” class, five committees tackled the work: design/merchandising, modeling, promotion, finance/secretary, and staging. Event-planning principles, detail management, and collaboration were skills students learned as they produced the fashion show as their final project.
El Camino’s Fashion Program offers two degrees and three certificates, preparing students for careers in a variety of fields. Classes cover all aspects of the industry, including clothing construction, fashion illustration, pattern making, draping, computer-aided fashion design, and manufacturing. Students also learn about presentation techniques, planning, promotion, fashion coordination, advertising, and sales in merchandising classes.
