The powerhouse El Camino forensics team is busy preparing for its final national tournament to finish off the season after already bringing home multiple victories in virtual competitions and a No. 1 ranking among community colleges nationwide. Previously this academic year, the team competed in seven area tournaments, winning sweepstakes – the top award – in each one.
El Camino went into the national tournaments ranked the No. 1 community college in the National Parliamentary Debate Association yearlong sweepstakes, and second in the nation when considering all four-year colleges and universities. As the team continues to win, more and more students are joining the roster, even as other schools struggle to attract participants. Thank you to coaches Francesca Bishop, director of forensics and communication studies professor; Joseph Evans, communication studies professor; Brittany Hubble, communication studies instructor; and assistant forensics coach Li-Ren Chang, for preparing our students with the research, discipline, and public speaking skills that will be valuable throughout their academic and professional careers.
