Our fall semester is well underway, and I have enjoyed getting to know El Camino College's exceptional faculty and staff and meeting our outstanding students. The college community's dedication to excellence and commitment to student success makes it easy to see why El Camino is a trusted community partner and successful educational institution. I am excited to be a part of this academic team that works hard each day to ensure El Camino College is a place where we are unstoppable – together.
Our annual Professional Development Day started the year off with the theme "Engaging Equity-Mindedness Across our Community," giving us the opportunity to discuss the importance of developing an equity-minded approach to teaching, learning, and the comprehensive student support that our students need to meet their goals. This is where our focus will remain this year as we continue to navigate a safe return to campus while also continuing to provide excellent instruction and student support through virtual platforms.
With the reopening of the Student Services building, most of our support services have returned to campus for in-person assistance. It has been inspiring to see an increasing number of students on campus, connecting with faculty and staff and finding ways to get the help they need. Support services such as financial aid and academic advising are available in person and the Bookstore, Library, and Student Health Services are open and serving students and staff. Online services remain in place, offering additional ways for students to access personalized assistance. The Warrior Pantry never closed and continues to distribute food and supplies to all students via its convenient drive-thru and walk-up distribution service in Parking Lot B.
