Healthy Warrior Resources

 

Six Dimensions of Wellness: Mindfully focusing on wellness in our lives builds resilience and enables us to thrive amidst life’s challenges. Student Health Services hope to provide you with connections to resources for wellness on campus, in your own community and online with links and health apps. Student Health Services encourages all campus community members to be healthy, happy Warriors!

Suicide Prevention

  • Crisis Text Line: Text COURAGE to 741741 - Text from anywhere in the USA to text with a trained Crisis Counselor. Free, 24/7 crisis counseling.

Anxiety

  • NAMI Helpline (1-800-950-6264) M-F, 10am - 6pm, ET. Provides info on mental health conditions, treatment options, local support groups, services & programs and resource referrals. All crisis calls are transferred to a national crisis line.

NAMI Virtual Support GroupsIf you or someone you know is struggling with a mental illness, you are not alone. NAMI Westside Los Angeles offers Peer Support Groups for those living with mental health conditions, and Family Support Groups for family members and loved ones who are impacted by mental illness.

Depression

Stress Relief/Reduction

  • Helpful Health AppsVarious apps about sleep, nutrition, meditation, anxiety and basic needs. 
  • Kognito is a virtual practice environment where you’ll engage in simulated conversations to help a fellow student who may be experiencing emotional stress. Check out the For Student Modules today! 
  • Virtual Wellness Workshops with ECC SHS Psychologists: All currently registered students are welcome to attend a FREE online workshop. 

eCHECKUP TO GO: Is a personalized, evidence-based, online prevention intervention developed by psychologists at San Diego State University. This program will give students a chance to participate in an anonymous assessment about their drinking habits, marijuana use or tobacco use

  • Student Equity and Achievement Programs: Provides a teaching and learning environment that is welcoming, supportive, and accessible to all participants, regardless of ethnicity, culture, nationality, language, disability, gender, sexual orientation, or religion.

Healthy Relationships

  • Safe & Healthy Intimate Relationships:This guide was created to remove some of the mystery from sexual health and give students the appropriate resources to make sure they stay healthy & safe throughout their college days & beyond! 

LGBTQIA+

  • PFLAG: The largest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people, their parents and families, and allies. 
  • The Trevor Project: The Trevor Project provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ young people. Trained counselors are here to support you 24/7. If you are in crisis, feeling suicidal, or in need of a safe and judgment-free place to talk, call the TrevorLifeline now at 1-866-488-7386.

 Veterans Services

  • Kognito: Veterans on Campus Peer Program
    • Learn to support your buddies as they adjust from military to college life. This simulation will place you in three conversations with emotionally responsive virtual students who face a variety of challenges, including struggles with everyday issues, thoughts of dropping out or suicide, and frustration with non-veteran students or faculty who don't understand a veteran's perspective.  
  • Mindfulness Mondays: Weekly Virtual Workshop that is designed to restore and heal your mind, cultivate awareness, kindness, compassion & joy.  Meditate & leave with a deep sense of connection with your community & the world around you.  Presented by Dr. Maria Nazarian of ECC Student Health Services. 
  • Helpful Health AppsVarious apps about sleep, nutrition, meditation anxiety and basic needs. 

CalFresh is a nutrition program that can help households buy healthy foods.

ECC Financial Aid

Metro U-Pass - In comparison to a Metro 30-Day Pass with Zones, the Metro U-Pass is 69% cheaper. It is also valid for rides on GTrans and Torrance Transit, unlike the Metro 30-Day Pass.
