Description

Associated Student Organization (ASO)

The Associated Student Organization (ASO) supports students by actively participating and voting in committees that recommend campus-wide decisions to the Board of Trustees. They act as the student government in El Camino College. ASO is comprised of the Senate, Division Councils and Committees. ASO offices and mailboxes are located in MBBM 131. Inter-Club Council (ICC)

The Inter-Club Council supports students by launching large-scale events that involve the student population; for example, Club Rush and Homecoming. They also oversee campus clubs and assist these clubs with event funding and planning.  ICC consists of an executive cabinet and one representative from each club on campus. ICC offices and mailboxes are in MBBM 131. Contact ICC by calling (310) 660-3593, ext. 6399.


Clubs

There are more than 50 student clubs operating at El Camino College. An organization may connect students based on academic scholarship (honors), community service, religious affiliations, cultural connections, art, media, performing arts, academic majors, or special interests. Students can also start a new club.


Commencement/Graduation

The Student Development Office is proud to help coordinate the Commencement ceremony for El Camino College students. Typically held on the last day of the Spring semester, this joyous occasion is an opportunity for friends and family to celebrate the achievements of their student.

Cultural Heritage Month

Monthly cultural events and programs are hosted to encourage a culturally sensitive learning environment for students and promote cultural diversity.

Student Empowerment Dialogue Series

The Student Empowerment Dialogue Series is focused on engaging students in discussing differing views and opinions.  The goal is to get students to engage in a dialogue that promotes inclusion of all people, while maintaining the civil engagement of El Camino College students.

Student Equity Advisory Council (SEAC)

The Student Equity Advisory Council supports diversity and equity related student clubs, as well as, providing leadership opportunities for students.  Their goal is to help address the needs of student groups that have been historically underserved.

Student Code of Conduct

El Camino College is dedicated to maintaining an optimal learning environment and insists upon academic honesty. In order to achieve these goals, Greg Toya, the Director of Student Development, oversees student conduct.

Services

Description

ASO Discounts

Promotion of the $15 bi-annual ASO Discount Sticker/Student Activities Fee, which offers a variety of discounts to campus events, local businesses, and amusement parks. Tickets can be purchased at the Marsee Auditorium Ticket Office.

Banner-Making

Banner-making materials are available for student organizations only.

Distribution of Literature

Prior to public distribution of literature on campus, external groups may voluntarily sign in with the Student Development Office, located in MBBM 131. Individuals distributing literature must bring their own table(s) and chair(s). Available free speech areas are described within the Board Policy and Administrative Policy below. Metro U-Pass

El Camino College students who purchase a Metro U-Pass will be able to ride on the Metro, including Metro Express Buses and the Metro Silver Line, as well as the GTrans (Gardena bus lines),Torrance Transit and Long Beach Transit, Culver City Bus, LADOT DASHCity of Santa Monica’s Big Blue Bus (BBB), and Norwalk Transit!

Photo ID Cards

To access certain services on campus, a current college photo ID card is required. These ID cards are issued in MBBM 131. Contact photo ID by calling (310) 660-3593, ext. 3500.

Posting Approval

All materials posted on campus kiosks must be approved (and posted) by SDO staff.  Materials eligible to be posted on kiosks must be related to ECC events, activities and ASB.  Commercial posting is not permitted. Contact SDO for additional information by calling (310) 660-3593, ext. 3500.

Employers wishing to post their job opportunity in MBBM 137 may email sdo@elcamino.edu their flyer.

Warrior Pantry

The Warrior Pantry assists students facing food insecurity, provides toiletries, offers access to a computer, and connects students to additional resources in a supportive environment and judgement-free zone. These services are available to all currently enrolled El Camino College students needing assistance. Students must have a valid ECC ID card with the current semester sticker and must complete a Pantry Registration Form. For more information contact the Warrior Pantry at 310-660-3593, ext. 3527.
