WELCOME TO THE HEALTH SCIENCES & ATHLETICS DIVISION


The Division of Health Sciences and Athletics offers educational classes, certificates and programs in Health Sciences (Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Care), Physical Education, adapted physical education, recreation, first aid, CPR, men’s and women’s athletics, educational development and sign language/interpreter training. The division also manages the Student Health Center for drop in health services on campus. Contemporary Health classes (CH1) may be taken online as well as on campus.

The goals of the division are: to improve the quality of life of our students with quality programs in health care, health education, exercise science and disease prevention; to provide programs that offer educational, social, cultural and physical experiences that develop lifelong memories and life long fitness habits.

The Intercollegiate Athletic has programs in 21 sports (10 women and 11 men) and off-season conditioning classes. These degree applicable, transferable courses offer programs of training and competing in a network of athletic conferences that culminate in state championship in all sports. In a proud tradition of over sixty years ECC athletics have brought home numerous conference, division and state championships. Most recently the men’s football team returned with the state championship trophy in 2006 and the woman’s volleyball teams were back to back state champions in both 2007 and 2008.

The Kinesiology department (PE) provides extensive offerings in a variety of life-time and fitness activities including racquet sports, combative exercise, yoga, golf, aquatics, strength training and aerobic programs.

The Special Resource Center provides education and services for various types of disabilities and learning styles including assessment, individualized educational plans, accommodations, and academic support.

The registered nursing program includes requirements for the Associate in Science degree and prepares student to take the National Licensing Examination. The Radiologic Technology program (medical x-ray and imaging) program includes state of art digital imaging and is a 25 month training program that prepares students to become a skilled radiological technologist. The respiratory care program is designed to provide respiratory care science and clinical courses to prepare the student to become a skilled respiratory therapist.
