Campus Safety Update

Many improvements are happening all over campus as we constantly monitor all aspects of campus safety. Here are some updates and reminders:

Lighting: Our safety and security measures at ECC are continuing throughout all areas of the campus. Recently, additional security lighting was added, as existing lights were inspected and repaired as part of our ongoing lighting maintenance efforts.

Courtesy Shuttle: All ECC students and employees are reminded to use our ECC Courtesy Shuttle during the evening hours. Shuttles run Monday through Saturday evenings from 5:30  to 10:30 p.m. Individuals requesting this service should call the El Camino Police Department Communications Center at 310-660-3100 and let the dispatcher know the pickup location is and final destination. Traffic Safety: Please use caution while driving on campus, watching for pedestrians. Although pedestrians crossing in a marked crosswalk legally have the right-of-way, pedestrians must not take for granted that they are seen by oncoming vehicles. Drivers should always be prepared to stop for pedestrians, and watching for pedestrians at all times. Safety is everyone's responsibility -- be safe! Also, please remember the speed limit all over campus is 15 miles per hour. All are asked to use extra caution in the parking structure.

Theft: Students and employees are reminded to please keep belongings close at hand. It just takes one moment for an unattended purse or backpack to suddenly go missing. Be especially careful of leaving textbooks unattended.

We thank everyone for their continued vigilance as we remain committed to a safe campus community. If something worries you – REPORT IT!
