ECC student veterans and staff members joined the Fourth Annual Torrance Armed Forces Day 5K for Freedom on May 18.
Running through beautiful eucalyptus-lined Torrance roads, 10 ECC student veterans, four staff members and Dean Idania Reyes joined the Fourth Annual Torrance Armed Forces Day 5K for Freedom on May 18. Presented by the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce, the race is part of the traditional Torrance Armed Forces Day Celebration. Torrance is one of few cities nationwide sanctioned by the U.S. Department of Defense to honor Armed Forces through an annual Armed Forces Day Parade & Celebration, which includes the 5K For Freedom. Also joining in the run was five-year-old Koji, son of ECC student veteran Magumi Vaca. El Camino College Veterans Services serves more than 260 student veterans on campus, offering resources to veterans and veterans' dependents seeking a college education.
