ECC Connect Update
ECC Connect continues to expand its reach with students. With the pilot of a Midterm Progress Report, there was unprecedented usage of ECC Connect for Early Alert in Fall 2018. More than 320 faculty or staff initiated a total of 5,229 kudos, flags or referrals in the system, with 3,179 unduplicated students! The Humanities Division, followed by the Mathematical Sciences Division, continue to be All Star leaders. The Fall 2018 Summary details the usage by division, tracking type and top users. There are three ways instructors can provide feedback via ECC Connect. View ECC Connect Progress Reports and Survey.
- • First, the Midterm Progress Report is an online version of traditional hard-copy requests used by various academic support programs to provide feedback regarding a student's current grades and academic performance. Faculty who have students in class who are members of participating support program will automatically receive notification to complete this report.
- • Second, faculty can continue to sign up to participate in the fourth- and ninth-week progress surveys. These surveys recognize students for good work, outstanding academic performance or showing improvement, or guides students to get assistance if having inconsistent attendance or other concerns.
- • Last, as many faculty members have already discovered, there is no need to wait for a survey request; all the items are available to raise at any time. View ECC Connect Tracking.
Based on feedback survey issued last fall, the majority of students find ECC Connect very easy to access and use, and all students indicated they would recommend ECC Connect to other students. Further, students are discovering and using other aspects of the system such as connecting with their professors or support services on campus or educational planning. Psychology major Emily Quintanilla said, "My overall experience with my ECC Connect has been amazing and makes it easier for me to connect with professors or the programs I am enrolled in." Keyana Clark-Henderson, computer engineering major, noted the additional benefits of ECC Connect. "The first time I used it was to draft an educational plan before my meeting with my counselor. It was a good way to get to know the system, and having a counselor show me how it works benefited me."
