Degree/Certificate Report Highlights Growth

Both El Camino College and Compton College recorded an increase in the number of degrees conferred during 2016-17, according to a recent report from ECC Institutional Research and Planning. ECC grew in both degrees and certificates for the second straight year. Compton College has seen three years of degree increases, with 27 percent growth in the most recent year. Compton College also saw certificates double over the last two years. A sizeable portion of the degree growth can be attributed to the Associate Degrees for Transfer (AD-T) program. ECC had an increase of 187 transfer degrees in the last year. Similarly, Compton College saw an increase of 77 transfer degrees, which was 20 percent of all degrees granted the prior year. Graduation Intents

The deadline to submit an Intent to Graduate is March 2 for the spring term. This week is a great time to remind students to stop by the Counseling Office for a grad check. Appointments are not necessary for this quick review that can help determine if students have enough units to graduate. Students often have completed the required courses, but do not submit an intent so they can be recognized for their accomplishments. Other times, students submit intents with less than 45 units completed. In both cases, a grad check with a counselor is the way to go! Please see www.elcamino.edu/student/studentservices/counseling/ for more information and the drop-in schedule.
