El Camino College recently organized its first Undocumented Ally Training Program. This professional learning opportunity was designed to expand the college's network of allies to undocumented students by helping faculty, staff and administrators learn about policies, laws and resources to support this student group. Immigrants Rising provided training to help participants understand the current needs of undocumented students, while offering information regarding resources and other assistance.
Support is available to ECC students throughout all parts of their educational journey. The Dreamer's Task Force, established in 2016, coordinates campus efforts and provides up-to-date information to students. The task force also works with student organizations and academic divisions to connect students with services they might need. Workshops cover current items of interest and students can receive help with Dream Act applications and financial aid. In addition, high school outreach efforts have expanded, while the Student Equity Council collaborates with campus groups to create a monthly student empowerment dialogue series. We are here to help! At El Camino College, we are proud of our students' success, a direct result of campus collaborations designed to support all students.
